Confirm the Failure
Review pumping history, accessible distribution and equipment before selecting replacement. Establish why the existing field is no longer performing and whether another system component is contributing.
Find Suitable Replacement Space
The designated repair area is the starting point, but its condition and availability still matter. Buildings, paving, utilities or changed drainage can affect the design. Have the proposed area evaluated before planning excavation.
Design for the Use
Use the approved daily flow and site-specific loading conditions. Tank capacity alone cannot establish field size. Business use or a bedroom increase may change the approval needed for the project.
Choose the Permitting Route
Coordinate the required Wake County review or qualified private-option professionals. Separate initial application processing from site work, engineering and inspection time. Missing information or layout changes can extend the schedule.
Coordinate Installation
Plan equipment access that protects soil outside the work area. Confirm old-system abandonment, pipe connections, pumps, grading and landscape restoration in the scope. Wet conditions may require rescheduling excavation.
Protect the New Field
Complete required inspections and authorization before use. Maintain vegetative cover, control runoff and keep traffic away. Record the finished layout and follow the maintenance plan for any treatment or dosing equipment.
